Inspirational Presentations

Make It through with Gratitude
Flower Arrangement 2

Everyone has issues and life can be stressful at times. That’s why I created this presentation. Throughout my journey, I had to learn and practice self-care strategies to be able to help others. These I would like to share. They are not new, but they are free, helpful, and easy to implement into anyone's daily routine. I will lead participants through a peaceful breathing exercise, grounding technique, meditation, gratitude journaling, affirmation writing, and positive visualization practice.

This presentation will not only help enhance people’s personal and professional growth, but it can also give them a much needed break. It is informative, thought-provoking, and inspiring, descriptors a retired educator, published author, and presenter such as I esteem.

Nature's Way Journaling

While dealing with busy lives and a demanding curriculum, my high school students appreciated what they called “Free-Write Friday.” When I could squeeze it in, I allowed time at the end of class for them to relax and unwind by turning off the lights, breathing with them, and making up something inspired by nature to which they could relate. And then I gave them time to write in their journals. They loved it. This is how this presentation came into existence.

After retiring, I created pieces for all seasons and enhanced each with photography and music or sounds from nature. My purpose was three-fold: 1) help people relax with peaceful breathing exercises. 2) help people reflect on their lives. 3) help spark people’s writing journey with thought-provoking prompts. So, if interested in calming your mind, awakening the creative spirit within, and allowing your words to freely flow, this presentation is for you.

Meet the Author

My friends call me Steady Betty, because I’m predictable. Calm. Dependable. Quiet. But life isn’t that way and either is my writing. This presentation allows an opportunity for an array of emotions to be stirred and an honest sharing to be heard concerning a wide range of topics.

I will share some pieces enhanced by photography from my Nature’s Way Journaling to put participants in a thought-provoking, peaceful place, from Make It through with Gratitude to remind them of the simple things that make life so good, and some from my books, including selections from Reflections from the Wilde Side which reveal the unpredictability and intensity of the reality of mental illness and addiction. My intention is to help people gain insight and remember they are not alone in dealing with such challenges. And then of course I add some humor because we all need to relax and laugh. Together. So we can connect. After all, as my dad would say, "Communication is key" in keeping us healthy and happy throughout our journey.

Do You Believe in Angels?

Years ago, on the day before Thanksgiving, I met my angel in the airport while with my children, ages one and two. Our house was under major reconstruction and my husband and I thought it would be best if I took the kids away while he worked, so I took my friend’s offer and went to Texas to see her and her family.

I’ll never forget that beautiful experience and how my angel who spoke calmly in an English accent came out of nowhere and helped me so much that day. Afterwards, intrigued, I researched angels and created this presentation. In it, I share my personal account of meeting my angel and everything I learned about these amazing beings in a beautiful power point presentation. If interested, members of the group can share their own angel experiences and inquire about an angel card reading.

Fun Fact:
My friends and I have nicknames. Mine is Betty, given to me by my dear friend Domo. Others include Leroy, Caveman, Kelkel, Spike, Gregsie, Tooter, Amer, Red, Wally, and Two Dogs.
